Responsibilities; Ensure the delivery of strong customer service to all whom Novant serves. Maintain Remarkable Patient Experience vision in all departmental operating procedures, developmental activities, and customer interactions. Continuous strives to modify departmental operations to enhance delivery of the Remarkable Patient Experience and communicates ongoing customer needs to other assistant directors and senior directors. Participate on regional committees, which govern the organizations actions and decisions regarding corporate billing compliance with regulatory guidelines and requirements. Support the development of strategic direction for department operations. Manage the implementation of region-wide projects for realizing performance improvement opportunities. Participate in various IT-related steering committees for information technology changes which affect the revenue cycle and department specific work streams. Assist with budgetary process and control, problem solving, reengineering, planning and goal setting. Participate in the yearly development and ongoing maintenance of team goals and objectives. Manage and implement development of department strategies to maintain and mange key performance indicators. Maintain high employee satisfaction. Facilitate positive effective communication and build strong relationships between key revenue cycle stakeholders. Ensure appropriate staffing levels to manage work flow and meet performance standards. Participate in and coordinates communication with Information Technology to ensure appropriate systems, enhancements, and tools are utilized to effectively manage daily department operations. Mange and oversee development of ongoing programs for staff development, which include: hiring and training for leadership positions and directing the hiring and training of all staff in the department; completing (or directing the completion of) all necessary human resource documentation and adhering to all human resources expectations for subordinates; communicating regularly and  effectively with subordinates and superiors regarding the status and condition of the business operations under control of the director. Assist in the oversight and management of department functions within designated scope. Assist in the development, implementation and management of efficient and effective corporate operational policies, processes and best practices within department functions across the organization. Enforce standardized policy and procedures, as well as quality and productivity tracking. Identify report and resolve operational and financial issues that impact the management of department operations. Maintain operating policies, procedures, and effective working relationships with all areas involved in billing, collections, customer service, cash applications, denial management and regulatory compliance. Develop multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality and efficiency of department and revenue cycle operations. Track and monitor key revenue cycle performance indicators; reports key findings to appropriate leadership. Ensure that supervisory team and staff meet goals and objectives throughout the year.

Graduate of an accredited program. Bachelor Degree required (with grandfather clause for existing, eligible employees.).Leadership Experience: 4-5 years of relevant experience. Revenue Cycle Experience: 5 years. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing; understands and can apply knowledge of decision support applications, data source systems and operational procedures and appropriate internal controls; human relations and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with management, staff and administration; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent analytical skills. Hospital and patient financial experience required. Proficient in Word and Excel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  Sedentary Work - lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise moving objects, including the human body, weighing up to 10 pounds occasionally (Occasionally: activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time) and/or a negligible amount of weight frequently (Frequently: activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time). Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
